Since she launched her blog Smitten Kitchen in 2005, Deb Perelman has fed millions of food-obsessed and terminally online people in America. Operating out of her tiny New York City home kitchen, the self-taught cook and photographer’s recipes aren’t fussy but focused on getting the most bang for your buck. They use easy-to-find ingredients that are so clear even *I* can make them. Her pasta e ceci dish single-handedly kept me alive over the past few years. Her sausage, chard, and lentil soup could cure SAD, probably. And don’t get me started on her desserts (they’re delicious).
As one of the OG food bloggers, Perelman is best known for her website and social media pages (she has literally so many recipes that there’s a “Surprise Me” button on her page that randomly offers a Smitten Kitchen recipe; we love whimsy) but she’s also a bestselling cookbook author. Last year, she dropped her third book, Smitten Kitchen Keeper, which includes many new recipes you can test out through this interminable slog of winter weather, like the divine-looking green angel hair with garlic butter on the book’s cover.
On January 25th, Perelman will be in conversation with local chef/food writer/celeb J. Kenji López Alt at Town Hall, chatting about her career, book, and—duh—food. Come through to have your mind (and belly) satiated.
