Some of us who live outside the city center (howdy from Lake City!) bemoan that the most publicized events can sometimes feel like a hassle to get to, what with heavy traffic and increasing parking rates. But itโ€™s summer, the sun is out, all bets are off, and Seattle Parks and Recreation wants to bring cinematic entertainment to your block! Enter Center City Cinema, with free movie programming at 12 different parks over the next few months, some with accompanying food trucks, all a way to spruce up your neighborhood.

Movie Showtimes:

Check out the extensive list of offerings below, but highlights include movie-Iโ€™ve-seen-50-times Labyrinth at South Lake Unionโ€™s Cascade Playground (Wednesday, July 19th), squirmy โ€™90s time capsule Reality Bites at Freeway Park (Tuesday, August 9th), a chance to watch the underappreciated Disney film Strange World with my LCW neighbors (Saturday, September 14th), Alice Guโ€™s heartwarming documentary The Donut King at Hing Hay Park (Saturday, August 3rd), Cal Anderson Parkโ€™s musical- and drag-forward July lineup (To Wong Foo, Chicago, Mamma Mia!, The Rocky Horror Picture Show), the chuckle I got out of City Hall Parkโ€™s offering of Legally Blonde and two Grisham thrillers (The Pelican Brief, The Firm), and a boats-and-floats presentation of Jaws at Lake Union Park (Thursday, August 29th).
