There’s a brand-new festival coming to town, and we couldn’t think of a dreamier setting. In mid-August, Rolling Bay Music Club (RBMC) will host its inaugural concert at Suyematsu Farms. The working farm and community hub has been rooted on the island since the 1930s, drawing folks in for its summertime strawberries, fall pumpkins and holiday Christmas tree offerings.
The vision for this all-ages, music-centric event evolved from wanting to support artists with livable wages, while creating a day that celebrates musicians plus local small businesses and nonprofits. “At its heart, we seek to support Seattle Pride’s youth programs, and a portion of the proceeds will fund their programs,” says RBMC Founder and Executive Director Jackie Costigan.
Head over to the island for a full day of live music, you-pick dahlias, tasty fare from local vendors and beautiful creations from regional makers, too. Then there’s the main event, of course: An impressive lineup of local musicians including Mary Lambert, Amelia Day, Brittany Davis, Rae Isla, Lo Pony and Thistle Band.
“With a heartfelt team of music-loving volunteers, we are building a festival that we plan to continue for years to come,” Costigan says. She reiterates that it’s a celebration for the whole community: families, music lovers and everyone. “All are welcome.”
