We’ve been doing the Time Warp for 49 consecutive years, not counting the original stage shows or the probably thousands of regional versions all over the world. And whether you haven’t had a chance to be part of the live-audience action yet or you’re one of those lovely freaks who has stuck with the film for an entire half-century, The 5th Avenue Theatre has a treat for you this month with The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
On October 25th and 26th, downtown’s famous venue will present an anniversary screening of the original uncut and unedited version of RHPS. The cult sci-fi horror musical comedy, starring the likes of Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Meat Loaf, Little Nell, Patricia Quinn, and composer Richard O’Brien, is a rite of passage for anybody who grew up to be gloriously weird.
The screenings will, naturally, be presented with a live shadow cast performance courtesy of Tacoma’s Blue Mouseketeers, who will encourage the now-encyclopedic levels of audience participation the movie has built up over the decades. Yes, you are part of the action as Dr. Frank-N-Furter and his crew from Transexual, Transylvania seduce wholesome couple Brad and Janet and show them what “absolute pleasure” truly entails.
Special guest? You bet your fishnet booty! Barry Bostwick—Brad Majors himself—will be available for a VIP preshow meet-and-greet as a separate ticketed add-on. Get a photo, get an autograph, and then watch him in his 20s stripping down to his knickers.
And remember: “Don’t dream it. Be it.”
The 5th Avenue Theatre is one of America’s leading musical theater companies, sharing the joy of musicals with all ages.
