📍 Downtown Seattle Waterfront: Pier 62, Olympic Sculpture Park, Occidental Square
Seattle may be known as the “Emerald City” but the shimmering blue waters of Elliott Bay serve as both entryway and launch point for fun in the city, and beyond. It also happens to be the perfect setting for a celebration. On Friday, August 30th, the 4th Annual Waterfront Block Party will fill downtown’s waterfront with live music, dancing, parades, local vendors and plenty of eats. Hosted by Friends of Waterfront Park, this free party stretches from Occidental Square to the Olympic Sculpture Park.
Festivities kick off at noon and continue until sunset at 8:30 pm. The art and music showcase at Pier 62 will feature a variety of performances and activities—from the rhythmic beats of the True Loves and Anzanga Marimba to the lively Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline. Daughters of Royalty and Washington Diamonds will lead the Promenade Parade, while Steppers Unite will get everyone moving with a soul line dance lesson.
You could also head over to Olympic Sculpture Park for arts and crafts activities led by The Bikery, hosted by the Seattle Art Museum. If you’re itching to do some shopping instead, head down south to Occidental Square. Aqui Mercado, an open-air market co-presented by Downtown Seattle Association and Metropolitan Improvement District will have over 45 vendors offering handmade jewelry, vintage clothing, flash tattoos and more.
With the grand opening of the new 20-acre Waterfront Park just around the corner, this block party is an opportunity to be part of the community that’s transforming Seattle’s waterfront.
Friends of Waterfront Park’s mission is creating, caring for, and activating a renewed place of connection on Seattle’s central shoreline.
