Movie Nights @ Freeway Park

Smiling’s my favorite šŸ§šŸŽ

Who says outdoor movie nights stop once the fall hits? Not me! Movies all day, every day, forever until I wither away. And thanks to the monthly movie nights at Freeway Park, you can keep the party going even after Daylight Saving ends. Theyā€™ve already crushed it this fall with the animated chaos The Mitchells vs. the Machines and PG-13 horror classic Tremors, and the rest of their slate is a great excuse to bust out that blanket and a few layers of clothes and head right to the heart of the city. Admission, popcorn, and snacks are free!

If you canā€™t make the trip down to the famous Goonies house in Astoria, Oregon, and respectfully take photos from the sidewalk, you can always rewatch Richard Donnerā€™s iconic adventure about a group of foul-mouthed kids who get in over their heads as they search for One-Eyed Willyā€™s hidden treasure. You may have seen this comedic swashbuckler many, many times before, but you probably havenā€™t watched since costar Ke Huy Quan won his Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Everything Everywhere All At Once, so come back around and honor the greatness that is Richard ā€œDataā€ Wang.

šŸ§Ā Elf

Will Ferrell became a permanent December fixture with Jon Favreauā€™sĀ four-quadrant Christmas comedy blockbusterĀ Elf, about a human raised in the North Pole. Itā€™s a movie that weaponized Ferrellā€™s SNL-honed oversized oaf caricature by injecting it with a heaping dose of holiday heart. Itā€™s one thing to yell all your lines, but itā€™s quite another to build genuine chemistry with a game ensemble of goofballs, most notably a golden-haired Zooey Deschanel, Ed Asnerā€™s pitch-perfect Santa Claus, andĀ a kindly Claymation narwhal.
