The Mariners are back, baby! Strap on your rally shoes and turn on the generators. It’s time to get the Electric Factory pumping again.
Fresh off their history-making, drought-defying season, the M’s are ready to make a name for themselves in the MLB as a strong team that wins reliably and doesn’t give its fans (diehards and bandwagoners alike) heart attacks during every ninth inning of the 162-game season.
Opening day pits the Mariners against the Cleveland Guardians. There’s not a ton of lore to unpack here, but both teams made it to the playoffs, and you gotta expect they’ll both head into this game—and this opening homestand—looking to make a statement.
The M’s should be hot this year. We still have wunderkind phenom center fielder Julio Rodriguez whose stellar rookie season earned him a 12-year $209 million contract with the Mariners. Plus, we’ve got first baseman and all-star Ty France; the Big Dumper himself, catcher Cal Raleigh; and new recruit power-hitter Teoscar Hernandez. (Mariners fans will be upset I didn’t mention the entire rest of the lineup, but we’ve got word count limits, okay? Also, I’ll believe left fielder Jarred Kelenic is the Next Big Thing once he delivers in the regular season.)
The fact is: It’s a new era for the M’s. Seattle can’t help but love these guys. I mean, get a load of them trying to order 150 burgers during spring training:

While opening day is sold out, tickets are still available for the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday games against the Guardians. (However, if you’re looking for last-minute Mariners tickets, maybe snatch up some Mariners vs. Angels tickets to see pitcher and slugger Shohei Ohtani after his World Baseball Classic clinching strikeout.)
