Wednesday, September 9: If you’re like me and your regular pick-me-up rotation includes songs like “See You later F*ckface,” “F*ck the World,” “Ursula Finally Has Tit,” and “You’re Tripping,” then you must also be a fan of the New Hampshire-founded punk rock band The Queers. They’ll be paying El Corazon with Portland’s “spazz-rock” opener Nasalrod.
Tuesday, September 15: I’m sure they don’t like being called “The Keanu Band.” But, like, Keanu Reeves is in the band. He plays bass. I love Keanu Reeves. He seems like the kindest, chillest dude ever. I already have my ticket to Dogstar at the Showbox Market because I want to be in the same room as him. That’s good enough for me.
Friday, September 18: Do you like your charcuterie board with a side of two turntables and a microphone? Grab your blanket, toss it onto that Chateau St. Michelle lawn and join Beck for an Odelay of a time. What? Odelay is a word. Just look it up in the Becktionary!
Tuesday, September 22: Iguanas? Awesome. Death? Intriguing. Cult? I’m in at least three of them. Put those three words together and you’ve got garage punk quartet Iguana Death Cult flying in from Rotterdam and crashing right through Baba Yaga’s brick walls.
Friday, September 25: Are we not men? How does a lobster rock? How much money did Fred Schneider covering the “Meet the Flintstones” theme song for 1994’s live-action adaptation make? All these questions will be answered (probably not that last one) as the B-52s and DEVO de-evolve at Climate Pledge Arena.
Sunday, September 27: So, the Michelle Branch concert at the Showbow Market is sold out. But consider this: I fell head over heels for her album “The Spirit Room” freshman year of college when I was going through some ISH and still regularly put on the CD when I’m feeling down. You know what also gets me down? Not having a ticket to this concert. Hook a Marcus up with a ticket, please, s’il vous plaît, por favor, onegaishimasu.
Monday, September 28: I can’t go to this (see below), but going to the Crocodile, closing your eyes and swaying to this dreamy synth-pop of Poison Girl Friend seems like a stupendous way to usher in some fall weather after what has felt like 400 consecutive days of 80-degree weather.
Monday, September 28: The Beastie Boys disbanded after the Adam “MCA” Yauch’s untimely death in 2012 (check out Spike Jonze’s documentary “Beastie Boys Story” for a stirring and fond farewell), but Mike D is still out there kicking copious amounts of ass. Catch him and his unsurprisingly talented sons at the Showbox Market with his first solo endeavor in 15 years.
