On Fatherās Day weekend, a celebrated creative tradition returns to Edmonds. In its 69th year, the Edmonds Arts Festival highlights the best artwork and artists in the Northwest region. Tens of thousands of people flock to the waterfront city to browse the galleries, meet artists, shop, socialize with friends and be entertained by local performing artists.
Plus, the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation, which supports the educational and cultural enrichment of the community through scholarships, education grants and public art installations, receives a portion of the profits.
Be sure to wear walking shoes ā the festival has three art-filled spaces to explore.
The Frances Anderson Center play field transforms into a buzzing artisan village for the weekend. Browse nearly 165 painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers and other unique artisans selling their artwork. Relax and enjoy live music and performances on the main stage. Grab tasty bites from food vendors lining the street on 8th Ave. or in the food alley between the main stage and the galleries.
Edmonds Arts Plaza offers a more relaxed outdoor space and exclusively highlights Edmonds-area artists. Peruse the art booths, see a preview of the Edmonds Studio Tour, learn more about several nonprofits with unique ties to the artistic world and take in live acoustic performances by local musicians and writers.
The Galleries (located inside the Frances Anderson Center) house a diverse and highly rarefied world of juried art. View over 550 pieces by talented painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers and other unique artisans. Take in delightful miniatures, amazing small paintings and fantastic small artisan works at the Small Works Marketplace. Be inspired by blossoming talent in the student art galleries, including creations by K through 12th grade artists from area schools.
