For those that love a good deal and some sustainable shopping, good news: the annual West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day is nigh!

With over 660 garage sale registrants, there’s no shortage of hidden gems to be found. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by that number? Starting May 2, a map of all registered garage sales across West Seattle and participating neighboring communities will be available to help you strategize your patronage and plan your navigation.

Be sure to look for official signs in folks’ yards and driveways for spontaneous rummage opportunities and don’t miss spots like Hotwire Coffee, which will feature multiple sellers without garage spaces who also want to participate.

The annual sale is now in its 21st year with the West Seattle Blog overseeing it since 2008. Helmed by longtime journalist Tracy Record, the WSB has all the latest news and updates on the gargantuan garage sale, plus all things going on around West Seattle.

What can you expect to find? It’s a total mixed bag — and that’s half the fun! Registrants assign different themes to their sales, putting a delightful twist on the experience. Everything from homemade treats and home wares to camping gear, vintage clothes, plants, cars and some totally out-there surprises are on the table. Chances are high you’ll find more than one thing you can’t leave without. And best of all, it’s a fun way to participate in community and help reduce waste by giving used items a second life. As they say, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure!
