Artsy book lovers, rejoice! This book event is especially for you. Reading a book for the pictures may get a bad rap in some circles, but with art books — that’s kind of the point! (Don’t worry text fans, plenty of that abounds, too).

Now in its fourth year, you’ll have two days to peruse up and down the aisles of independent publishers and small presses and check out an array of book designs, as well as books by artists. Note that masks are required 11 a.m.–12 p.m. both days for visitors with health vulnerabilities and will be provided in case you forget yours at home.

This year’s exhibitors include local entities and beyond, such as Active Chapter, For the Birds Trapped in Airports, Track and Field, Vivian Li, Winter Texts and many more (over 85 vendors, in fact). In addition to checking out the visual feast of bound works showcasing artists and designers, the fair will also feature talks, installations and activities. Book a free spot (limited space so act fast) to writer and designer Heather Corcoran’s “The Sentence Project” personal writing workshop or attend a guided street tree walk with author and illustrator Taha Ebrahimi.

Can’t wait until the 9th? Help kick off the event the day before on May 8th by attending the Prepress Launch Party at Actualize AiR from 6-9 p.m. (the event is free but be sure to RSVP). Artist Chainstitch Massacre will be doing live embroidery throughout the evening, plus you can expect music, drinks, special edition merch and opportunities to connect with book fair participants. Cheers to art and books!
