All rise for the king of summer ’22.

Steve Lacy had every INCH of social media playing his songs during that time. You probably heard of him—“I bite my tongue like a baaaaad habit.” The catchy chorus was inescapable and reminiscent of the infamous days (or years) of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.” Only this time, I didn’t mind hearing the song everywhere. It’s a perfect mix of grooviness, catchiness, and car-vibeness. As much as I saw it on every TikTok, I couldn’t help but blast it with friends in the car.

And no doubt will the man be blasting this song at his concert. At this point, Seattle could sing his whole Gemini Rights album. All Steve would have to do is point the mic to us. Can the same be said of his other music? Honestly, probably. The 24-year-old’s success with his newest album is deserved, but he’s not just a ’22 one-album wonder. He’s been showing success and talent since 2017, even producing Kendrick Lamar’s “Pride.” From his days in The Internet to his current reign, we’ve been obsessing over this guy for years. See that first-hand at The Showbox on Sunday the 12th.
