Seattle Kraken Kids’ Night @ Climate Pledge Arena

A lunch box giveaway đŸ±Â

📅 Sunday, January 28th
⏰ 6 pm
📍 Climate Pledge Arena: 334 1st Ave N, Seattle

It’s Buoy’s world. We’re just living in it.

During the Seattle Kraken‘s inaugural season, there was something missing. Yes, a postseason appearance, but that was rectified a year later when they barreled their way into the playoffs and defeated the reigning Stanley Cup champions in the first round. No, it was a certain je ne sais quoi, an extra dollop of whimsy, a certain sense of “Huh?” Then it was time for their sophomore season.

And lo, from the depths of the ocean rose Buoy, a six-foot tall sea troll with a wild head of blue hair, an anchor earring, and a really, really loud drum he uses to rev up home crowds. Adults were and still are mixed on him as a mascot, but I can tell you from personal audience experience that hooo boy do the kids love Buoy. (Which is the point of a major league mascot.) So for all the hockey youth out there and young at heart, Buoy will be front and center for January’s Kraken Kids Game, giving on-ice stars like Jared McCann a run for their money in sheer audience adulation.

The special night, sponsored by WaFd Bank, also includes a lunch box giveaway to the first 6,500 kids. I’ll also bet that youth hockey teams will play scrimmages during the game’s two intermissions. Oh, and also, the Kraken will be playing the Columbus Blue Jackets, who are in last place in their respective division and whose mascot is a green Civil War bug(?) named Stinger.
