Move over ICP, thereâs another singing clown ready to dethrone you two as the ultimate musical sideshow attraction. Enter Puddles, a near seven-foot-tall morose baritone crooner decked out in full-on classic clown regalia. On first glance, you might assume Puddles The Clown is just a clever marketing gimmick. On the contrary, Puddles is an absolute powerhouse of a vocalist.
Though he never fully lets us behind the fourth wall and admits all this, Puddles the Clown is the brainchild of Atlanta-based musician and actor Michael Geier. His pipes earned him a spot on Season 12 of Americaâs Got Talent, where he shocked Simon Cowell with his sultry voice. But his cover of the Lorde hit âRoyalsâ back in 2014 originally put him on the map of many, racking up 32 million views on YouTube. With that, Puddles took his unique and semi-creepy act on the road as âPuddles Pity Partyâ and grew a cult-like following.
Now more than 20 years into his career as a touring musician, Puddles has a deep catalog that includes Neil Diamond or Frank Sinatra-like renditions of everything from Black Sabbath to Blink 182 and R.E.M. My favorite, though, is his dark, sauntering version of the Ozzy Osbourne classic âCrazy Trainâ.
