I prefer to see movies as early in the day as possible, so I’m excited about the Merry Movies Matinees at City Hall Park, where you can swing by at noon, get some free hot cocoa or a coffee, and enjoy holiday cinematic treats.

While this 2014 modernization of the seven-time Tony winner doesn’t quite hit the highs of the John Huston film or either TV version, Annie is so foundationally strong a musical that it can still warm your heart. Quvenzhané Wallis is delightful as the irrepressible orphan, and Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, and Cameron Diaz (in her final performance before retirement) all impress in-game ensemble performances.
