Mariners Series Against Angels @ T-Mobile Park

Come to Seattle 😇

Published August 31st | Updated September 7th

📆 Monday, September 11th – Wednesday, September 13th
📍 T-Mobile Park: 1250 1st Ave S, Seattle
🎟 Value Games: $10 bleacher/view level, $20 main level, or $30 terrace club seats

The Los Angeles Angels collapsed after the trade deadline, but they still have maybe the biggest name in baseball with Shohei Ohtani, the 29-year-old powerhouse from Japan. He’s a double threat of the highest order as both a pitcher and designated hitter, commanding a 3.14 ERA (before he tore his UCL) and on track to hit over 50 home runs this season.

This also makes him the MLB’s most sought-after free agent when his contract with the Angels expires in a couple of months. At that point, he has the pick of any team interested. However, he’s expressed interest in staying on the West Coast and is on record that he spends time in Seattle even in the off-season. Does that mean he wants to join the surging Mariners? Seattle certainly hopes so, as evidenced at this year’s All-Star Game when our hometown crowd [politely] chanted “Come to Seattle!” during his two times at bat.

Will he come over? Only he knows… plus a circus of Jerry Maguires, club owners, and around $700 million. But it doesn’t hurt to try with your cheers from the stands. Consider being part of it all when the Mariners host the Angels from September 11th – 13th so you can convince him to stick around a little longer. Perhaps a lot longer.

And even if he goes with some other team next year, you’ll still have witnessed a once-in-a-generation talent slamming home runs into the third deck. Sometimes you just want to see athletes at the height of their power regardless of team. Because Ohtani isn’t just one of the best players in modern baseball, but in the sport’s entire history. He’s that good.

(Oh, and Monday’s also a Bark in the Park night.)
