June 16th – 18th SOLD OUT

An Australian rock band with one of the goofiest names in music history has sold out three dates at a Carnation, Washington farm that’s billed as “the ultimate destination in family fun!” That absurdity will make some kind of sense if you’ve heard any of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s gazillion genre-hopping albums. In all seriousness, King Gizzard (I ain’t typing all of that jive again) are an inspirational music-biz story at a time when such narratives are scarce. In an era when R&B-flavored pop and hip-hop reign, these sci-fi-obsessed maniacs somehow have blown up, catching the attention of overground-rock superstar Dave Matthews’s label, ATO, and becoming festival mainstays worldwide.

A super-prolific force of nature since embarking on their unlikely path in 2010, this Melbourne-bred sextet rifle through styles like Elon Musk runs through employees. Their frenetic onstage energy and panoply of styles at their disposal—garage rock, psychedelia, prog, funk, metal, amphetamine-blitzed krautrock—have pulverized the resistance of even hardened skeptics. Seeing King Gizzard execute their whirlwind sonic kaleidoscope outdoors in a remote location will likely blow minds young and old—and possibly those of nearby farm critters.
