Too Late — You Missed It!

November 18 – 21

It’s every millennial’s favorite Thanksgiving movie! After 100% killing it (and trying to kill each other…for fun!) in Barry Sonnenfeld’s 1991 film adaptation, the creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky family returned two years later for this much-beloved sequel.

Gomez and Morticia, especially as played by Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston, are relationship goals, so it takes a strong film to background this dynamic and still come out with a ’90s classic. The movie splits into two major pieces. In one half, you have a career-best Joan Cusack as Debbie Jellinsky, a serial killer who cozies up to Fester (Christopher Lloyd) so she can marry him, murder him, and inherit the vast Addams fortune. Meanwhile, young Wednesday (Christina Ricci) and Pugsley (Jimmy Workman) are sent to Camp Chippewa. The movie gets heaps of comedy mileage with this fish-out-of-water scenario as Wednesday butts heads with obnoxiously chipper camp managers and maybe, just maybe, falls in love with the camp’s biggest outcast (David Krumholtz being an absolute darling).

If you want to extend your time with the all-together-ooky clan, the Central Cinema run ends just in time for the premiere of Wednesday, the Tim Burton-helmed, Jenna Ortega-starring Addams Family miniseries. (All episodes drop on Netflix on 11/23, which is, you guessed it, a Wednesday.)
