If you’re looking for heavy guitars, pounding amps to the face, and cheap beer, there’s really nowhere else to be than 109 Eastlake Ave East on New Year’s Eve.
It’s a yearly tradition for El Corazon to go all out with an in-your-face rock n roll show on December 31st. With the past couple years being a wet blanket on their raucous good time, they went all out on this one. The lineup consists of ten bands between the two stages of El Corazon and The Funhouse and they loaded it up with some heat. At the fair price of $35 at the door, this gig provides a pretty strong bang for your buck. When you break it down and think about it, you’re paying less than four dollars per band! Pro tip: take the money you’re saving with the modest price and pick up a pair of earplugs. This one’s gonna be loud as hell.
The El Corazon stage features Seattle speed punk legends Zeke, San Francisco sleaze ball icons Dwarves, the riff God himself Matt Pike and his new project Pike vs the Automaton, local up-and-comers Acid Teeth and Portland metal revivalists R.I.P. On the Funhouse stage, we’ve got Northwest two piece doom metallers Year of the Cobra, the unapologetically old school rock n rollers in Detonator, Spokane psychedelic stoner rock band Kadabra, garage punks The Cutthroat Brothers, and Portland fuzzed out psych rockers Robots of the Ancient World.
