Romantic love is all good and well, but let’s cut to the chase — nothing beats the love of a dog! As Valentine’s Day nears, why not do something extra special to celebrate the bond that you and your best, four-legged friend share?
If your dog is well-behaved and friendly in social settings, then consider these five doggy dates, which have something for you and your pet to enjoy together.

Play and caffeinate at Coby’s Café
Coby’s Café delivers the two things Seattleites love: dogs and coffee. Coby’s boasts an off-leash dog area with scrumptious nibbles for dogs and humans alike. Heads up though, you’ll need to create a pet profile on the café’s website and have proof of vaccinations for your doggo before your date.
A $9.25 day pass gets you in. Make friends and order from the QR code menus in the Dog Lounge. Try an espresso drink with a croffle — a waffle made from croissant dough — with sweet or savory options for you, plus a Valentine’s woofle — a dog-safe ingredient waffle shaped like a heart — for your furry valentine. Be sure to check out their pre- and post-V Day dog events and meetups, too.
Bonus? They have free parking! What’s not to love?
More of a beer person? Consider signing up for Dog Yard where you and your dog can also get some off-leash socialization.

Wine and dine at White Swan Public House
Treat yourself — and your dog — to an evening out. Situated along the southern bank of Lake Union, White Swan Public House offers water views by way of their dog-friendly patio seating.
Aim for sunset and watch the lake light up as the sun goes down. February may be a chilly time to sit al fresco, but outside tables are heated for your comfort. Bring along a small blanket and treats to keep Fido happy while you hangout — or request a pup patty. As for human treats? Spring for a seafood platter, or choose an option from the “Shells & Champagne” section of the menu to crank up the fancy factor.

Have an adventure with Washington State Ferries
Can transportation be a good hang? It can, if it’s with a dog on a ferry.
Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday this year, so why not take a day trip? Through February, Washington State Ferries is trialing a new pet policy, which allows well-behaved dogs on leash to ride the ferry in the passenger areas of the boat (note: pets are still restricted from the food galley).
Grab a seat, take a walk, try your hand at one of the passenger deck’s puzzles, or people watch while you take in the sights together as you head to an adventure on Vashon, Bainbridge, Kingston and beyond. One of the benefits of traveling around the Puget Sound area is that you’ll find plenty of pet-friendly businesses and destinations no matter where you choose, from Wingehaven Park to Captain Whidbey.

Walk and shop in West Seattle
Have your flowers, and your dog, too! Dogs on leash are allowed indoors and out at West Seattle Nursery’s lush plant paradise. Grab a latte in the greenhouse while you take in the colors, admire winter blooms, browse seed packets and check out unique art and gifts.
Afterward, wander south down California Avenue to local pet store, Pet Elements, and let your dog sniff up and down the aisles to their heart’s content. Reward them for being in your life with a bag of delicious, healthy treats or a new toy to squeak or tug.

Take a staycation at The Lodge at St. Edward Park
Could you and your dog use a little R&R and a change of scene? Dial the Lodge at St. Edward Park to reserve one of their elegantly appointed pet-friendly rooms (note: a non-refundable pet fee is required).
Once you arrive, your special pal will be greeted with dog treats, bowls and a dog bed for their stay. Though dogs are not allowed in the dining areas, it’s the perfect excuse for ordering room service and catching up on some of your favorite shows together.
Are you two more the outdoorsy types? Explore the grounds, hike or bike (available to rent at the front desk) the trails of the state park or spend some quality time together on the shores of Lake Washington (all on leash, of course).
