A Guide to Pride 2023 Burlesque Shows in Seattle

Celebrating every color of the rainbow 🌈

Pride is one of the most special times of year in Seattle. For the whole month, the sun seems to shine extra bright as the city hosts a wide range of events celebrating every color in the rainbow. And in a moment when queer people across the country are coming under fire, this year’s Pride month is more important than ever to show solidarity and strength with this irrepressible community.

Local arts and culture production company, Puckduction, was founded by burlesque performer Mx. Pucks A’Plenty to highlight and support marginalized creators specifically of queer, BIPOC, and/or disabled experience. For Pride, they organized quite the lineup for people to come out and support the burlesque community.

“It is incredible to have so many queer events to attend throughout the year, but Puckduction and our many fellow producers really turn up the heat during June,” says Mx. Pucks A’Plenty. “It truly is a testament to the resilience of burlesque, the same resilience that we get to share and celebrate with our LGBTQIA+ fam.”

Here’s a list of the places where you can check out Puckduction and their fellow producers through the month of June—and then some:

Burlesque in the Flamingo Room @ Olmstead Seattle

Saturday, June 10th • 8pm

Kick off your Pride month with style and check out Fat Bottom Production’s Burlesque show in Olmstead’s Flamingo Room. The breezy, colorful Capitol Hill restaurant is the perfect setting to watch burlesque performers tantalizingly jiggle, shimmy, and shake around the room. As the performers heat up the stage, cool down with one of Olmstead’s mango frosé slushies or a pink guava margarita.

The Sunday Night Shuga Shaq Pride Edition @ Theatre Off Jackson

Sunday, June 11th • 7pm

For those of you who have not made it out to Sunday Night Shuga Shaq, Pride is the perfect opportunity to do so. As the longest-running and only monthly all-people-of-color burlesque revue in the Pacific Northwest, Shuga Shaq is a joyous celebration of sexuality, bodies, and performers of diverse backgrounds. Hosted by the inimitable Goddess Briq House at the Theatre Off Jackson, the evening is a slinky, raunchy affair featuring sultry dancing, titillating teasing, and enough nipple tassels to make your grandma faint. Come through with an open mind—and an open wallet!—and prepare to have your world rocked.

Pride & Pucks @ West Hall—Oddfellows Building

Thursday, June 15th • 7pm

“June is one of my favorite months for many reasons, but the two big ones are Pride and my birthday,” says Mx. Pucks A’Plenty. And, thankfully, you can join them and some of their closest friends for a celebration of both at Pride & Pucks in the Oddfellows Building. To welcome their 39th birthday, Mx. Pucks A’Plenty has invited some of their favorite performers— like Goddess Briq House, Inga, Celia Lipshutz, and D’Monica Leone—to perform some of their favorite songs. With Pucks on the mic as the evening’s “themcee,” you’re in for some naughty, celebratory fun. And don’t forget to bring cash to tip the performers!

Beer & Burlesque: A Pride Event @ Bad Jimmy’s Brewery

Sunday, June 25th • 6pm

Truly, what’s better than sipping ice-cold beer with your chosen family while watching burlesque outside? Produced by Fat Bottom Productions, regular resident performer Mx. Pucks will be taking the stage at Bad Jimmy’s Brewery in Ballard with a line-up of sickening burlesque performers, as well as drag queens and kings. Sip on Bad Jimmy’s rich cocoa vanilla porter or slightly spicy habanero amber while hooting and hollering for the performers onstage. After a long weekend of parades and parties, Beer & Burlesque is a perfect way to cap off Pride with the community you love. Note: This event goes on rain or shine, so prepare accordingly!

Queer Prom Seattle: The Gayla @ Benaroya Hall

Saturday, July 8th • 7 pm

For many queer people, prom comes at a time when it’s not quite safe to be who you really are. Puckductions’s Queer Prom Seattle is the perfect opportunity to give yourself the prom you’ve always wanted and deserved. Now in its fifth year, Queer Prom Seattle: The Gayla is taking over the luxurious Benaroya Hall for the evening. Dress up in that elaborate, formal dress or tux languishing at the back of your closet and gather your chosen family (or a hot date) for a night on the town. The evening will feature burlesque, DJs, drag, dancing, and comedy. There’s even a Queer Court Competition where one reveler will be crowned Queer Monarch!
