Throughout the day, our bodies and minds encounter tons of little cricks and annoyances—a demanding boss, the most uncomfortable chair known to humankind, the unending hours spent looking at a screen. But these cricks and annoyances are all the more reason to get outside, move your body, and revel in the gorgeousness of our city. One way to kick your 5-9 after your 9-5 is Yerbana’s Yoga in the Park at Gas Works, hosted by local yerba mate company, Yerbana.

Every Thursday at 6:30 pm, yoga enthusiasts—700 to 1,000 every week by Yerbana’s estimates!—stretch out on the grass of Gas Works and do an hour of yoga as the sun sets behind the Olympic Mountains to the east. If you show up 30 minutes early, you’ll have a chance to down one of Yerbana’s sparkling yerba mates (which they give away for free) so you can go into downward dog with ENERGY

Each week, Yoga in the Park is hosted by one of Yerbana’s studio partners from around the city: Bala Yoga, Flow Fitness, Haute Yoga Queen Anne, Lululemon U Village, Seattle Bouldering Project, The Six, shefayoga Roosevelt, and Pranify Yoga. The yoga instructors host a mix of different styles—ashtanga, yin, hatha, vinyasa—to switch things up. And if you don’t have a yoga mat, worry not. Lululemon will be onsite with (a limited number of) mats to use during the session in exchange for your ID, so get there early.
