Weather-wise, January sucks. The sheen of a new year wears off and suddenly we’re all stuck with perma-drizzle and an anti-social populace. However. In my years of PNW living, I’ve also found that January is the best time of year to get out and do stuff—dance, eat, be merry—because doing stuff seems to hit harder and feels more essential. And this year, for three days in early January, the new Wet City Comedy Fest will host some of the funniest comedians working today across The Crocodile complex’s three stages.

Headlining the fest is Patti Harrison, famously booted off of Twitter X for impersonating Sia running the Nabisco Nilla Wafer account (just listen to her explain it). Harrison’s surreal and absurd brand of humor is a balm against these surreal and absurd times. Other nationally known acts fill the lineup, including performers like Joel Kim Booster (who made Pride and Prejudice gay), Grace Kuhlenschmidt (I think about this TikTok all the time), Catherine Cohen, and The Sklar Brothers. Expect several local comedians and live podcast tapings throughout the fest—perfect for getting over the beginning-of-the-year slump.
