Regardless of the time of year, type of weather, or just the general vibes of [gestures at the world in general], you can always count on The 5th Avenue Theatre in downtown Seattle to bring the goods. As the cityâs premier destination for musical theatre, they have not only been the starting point for some of Broadwayâs greatest modern triumphsâHairspray, Aladdin, Shrek the Musical, Memphisâbut also offer the biggest local productions around.
For their 2025/26 season, theyâre pulling out all the stops with a promise that, no matter what show youâre seeing, you know itâs going to be an unforgettable night out. Up first is the start of the national tour of Suffs, Shaina Taubâs triumphant and two-time Tony-winning chronicle of the U.S. suffrage movement. The next touring production is a very different angle on American women in the early 20th century; itâs the murderific Chicago, the second-longest-running musical in Broadway history. And bringing up the touring show rear is the spooftastic Spamalot, Eric Idleâs adaptation of Monty Python and the Holy Grail fresh off its critically acclaimed Kennedy Center revival and subsequent New York run.
As for the in-house productions, their family-friendly Christmas spot goes to none other than Elf, based on the Jon Favreau/Will Ferrell holiday classic. And not to be outdone in terms of holiday-centered tuners, theyâre going straight to the top with the timeless masterpiece Jesus Christ Superstar, Andrew Lloyd Webberâs rock opera about Christâs final days.
One of Americaâs leading musical theater companies, The 5th Avenue Theatre shares the joy of musicals with the Pacific Northwest.
