There are two types of movie watchers in this world: those who find it socially acceptable to talk (quietly) during movies and those who don’t. If you’re in the latter category, do. not. come to the movies with me unless you want our friendship to absolutely disintegrate.
If you’re in the first category, then lucky you, our local bastion of film programming, SIFF and Stitch Café—a fiber arts crafting café that opened in Capitol Hill last summer—are continuing their series SIFF ‘n’ Stitch. Lights stay on while movies play on the big screen at SIFF Cinema Uptown, leaving you and friends to chat and crochet, knit, needlework, embroider, doodle, and do any other small crafts to your hearts’ desire. And in our opinion, tucking into a classic film and crafting in community seems like a soft way to spend an afternoon.
The series kicked off in February with romcom When Harry Met Sally (1989), but here’s the full schedule:
🎀 Hairspray (1988)
Sunday, March 16th @ 12 pm
🔮 Labyrinth (1986)
Sunday, April 13th @ 12 pm
🤫 A Mother’s Day Mystery (for now)
Sunday, May 11th @ 12 pm
💁 Pro tips
🚫 Per SIFF, leave the messy stuff at home: paint, glitter, glue, sequins, feathers, small beads, or tools that need to be plugged in.
