📅 Friday, November 15th – Tuesday, November 19th
⏰ Showtimes vary (see complete showtimes below)
📍 SIFF Cinema Downtown: 2100 4th Ave, Seattle
🎟 Tickets start at $14.50

All right, everybody. Time to worship at the altar of a cinema cathedral. Please rise and, to quote the post, “Please open your Bible to Psalm BODY ONCE TOLD ME.”

You all asked for this! The surprise Dreamworks animated hit from 2001 that spawned a multimedia franchise of pop culture references, strange music choices, and, yes, a true beating heart is turning SIFF Cinema Downtown into everyone’s favorite swamp. The story of the ogre, the donkey, the princess, and the dragon took on a life of its own thanks to the Zillenials who glommed onto its bizarre mix of earnest and ironic, leading to several encyclopedias worth of memes, social media filters, you-have-to-be-there in-person events, and YouTube videos that beg the question, “Who has the time?”

For five straight days, SIFF will present not just all four Shrek films but also both Puss in Boots-starring spinoffs. (Special shout-out to 2022’s Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, a shockingly good action film that’s better than it has any right to be as the seventh entry in what is essentially a shitpost saga for kids.) The mini-fest’s opening night includes a costume contest—come out of the woodwork, Seattle’s most glorious weirdos, and win some prizes!—and there will be a photo booth readymade for your shenanigans. And though none of these are singalong screenings, just try to stop people from singing along to Smash Mouth
