Whether you’re thirsty for the sight of hockey players or are a true “Krakhead”—yes, that’s a name for Kraken fans— the 2023-2024 Kraken preseason starts in September. With Game 2, fans can catch the first at-home game against Vancouver.

Preseason is the right time to jump on the bandwagon. There’ll be six preseason games against the Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, and Edmonton Oilers. And after a sophomore year where our baby hockey franchise did well enough to make the playoffs, this could be a banner season. Last year, they finished as the most improved second-year expansion team in recent history.

While it might be tough for them to make it to the championship, cross your sticks for more records set this year—and perhaps another trip to the playoffs. And plan for the 2024 Winter Classic on January 1st at T-Mobile Park, when the Krakens will face off against Stanley Cup winners, the Vegas Golden Knights. Not only will it be the first time these new franchises have played the Classic, but it’s also the first time the game, held outdoors on or near New Year’s, will take place on the West Coast

And while there isn’t a set-in-stone rivalry for the Seattle team yet, the two biggest contenders are Vegas and our neighbors to the north, Vancouver. And the last time the two faced off, Seattle defeated the Canuks 5 to 2. Hopefully, that will happen again.
