Sea-Meow Convention 2023 @ Seattle Center

Paws up, kitties 🐱

Updated on Thursday, August 10th with a full schedule

📆 Saturday, August 12th – Sunday, August 13th
📍 Seattle Center Exhibition Hall: 301 Mercer St, Seattle
📞 (206) 684-7200
🎟️ $16 – $76

One of the most endearing videos I’ve ever seen is of Moshow the Cat Rapper freestyling while bathing—and by “bathing” I mean straight-up sitting in shorts in a full bathtub with his extremely unappreciative but weirdly well-behaved cat DJ Ravioli. It’s incredibly cheesy. It is also exactly the kind of thing that Sea-Meow, which claims to be “the biggest cat convention in the Purrcific Northwest,” celebrates.

Moshow is one of a few cat personalities showing up; guests also include trap-neuter-return advocate TrapKing and cat adoption influencer Catluminati. If I have lost you at this point, you were probably never going to Sea-Meow anyway. The event also includes workshops on practical things like cat health and fun things like rescuing cats from trees, plus a bunch of vendors.

Also, yes, you can bring your cat to the cat convention if you feel up to carrying a cat around in a public place for hours and you don’t have the kind of cat that hates large crowds of human beings—i.e., a normal cat. If you do not have your own cat, cats will be available for petting and/or adoption from local rescues. The vibes are going to be weird, but they will be interesting!
