August 25th • 8 pm – 12 am
The Emerald City’s got its eye on the future—at least in the art world. From the immersive art experience, Seattle City of the Future in Capitol Hill’s Teal Building to this year’s theme (“Curiosity”) of Seattle Design Festival, the common question seems to be, “What does Seattle’s future look like?” On August 25th, SAM will also ponder that question about the museum itself along with artists, performers, and technologists when their summer edition of SAM Remix once again takes over Olympic Sculpture Park.
From 8 pm to midnight, the grounds will be filled with music, performances, and of course, art. Some of those featured artists include a forward-thinking collaboration between Seattle Design Nerds and Moses Sun—whose work features afro-futuristic influences inspired by the Black Southern diaspora—Nathan DiPietro and his virtual reality landscapes inspired by PNW plant life, J. Adam Brinson, Malia Peoples, and more.
Some other highlights of the night to look out for:
🌀 Contemporary dance from Seattle-based dance company Whim W’Him.
🌟 A fashion show from tech designer Lumen Couture, whose designs include LED technology.
💖 Drag and dance performances organized by Beauty Boiz.
🎶 And a killer lineup of DJs spinning tunes throughout the night.
There won’t be any tickets sold at the door, so make sure to get your tickets beforehand!
