Winter can be tough on the body and mind, but the Olympic Sculpture Park has created a perfect antidote with their Body & Mind Activity Day. Inside the park’s soaring glass pavilion overlooking Elliott Bay, you’ll find a full day of experiences designed to shake off the seasonal blues.
Let the healing begin with Dance Church, a funky, all-levels movement session where the only requirement is an open mind and willingness to move. Afterward, choose your path: sink into the soft surfaces of the Dreamstation—a pop-up relaxation space created by artist and dream doula Mia Imani—or process winter’s weight through intimate letter-writing with Derek Orbiso Dizon, whose A Resting Place cultural center uses storytelling and art for mourning and remembrance.
From 10:30 am, West Seattle Book Club transforms the space into a communal reading sanctuary, where you can lose yourself in a book while surrounded by fellow readers. The experience floats on Shelby Natasha’s ethereal soundscape, where traditional Chinese Guzheng meets gentle lofi beats. Cap off your day with Biom‘s sound bath, where the deep thrumming of metal gongs and crystalline ring of singing bowls helps release what’s left of winter’s hold.
