When it comes to whiskey, casks are crucial. The terroir of the caskās oak and what the cask previously contained dramatically change the flavor of the finish ā from rich, earthy or smoky to spicy, fruity or herbaceous, and countless notes in between.
Westland Distillery is well known for its attention to cask aging, including special releases aged in Pacific Northwest Garryana oak, whiskeys aged in Tempranillo, Syrah or Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels and even select batches aged in beer casks for malt enthusiasts.
This summer, Westland Distillery is releasing a brand-new whiskey (and the very first of its cask kind): a rum cask-finish whiskey. This fine whiskey is aged in Mount Gay Rum barrels, giving the spirit a rich finish with notes of caramel and grapefruit.
Stop by Westland Distillery in SoDo on June 6 to celebrate the launch and sample the first pours of the new whiskey. The festive event will feature cocktails by Navy Strength in collaboration with Talking Cedar, as well as snacks to complement your cocktail or whiskey pour.
Bonus? The distillery will be offering up a few special giveaways throughout the event, so donāt miss out on all the fun.
Your new favorite drink is coming: Westland Distillery’s whiskey release, Rum Cask Finish, will make its debut on June 6.
