Bring your earplugs and wear your tennis shoes, we’re dancing! Promoter Routine brings their bass and techno night to Substation, presenting Copenhagen-based DJ Schacke, in one of his first American shows, and local KEXP DJ Sharlese. Routine throws excellently curated parties, often hosted at the Denny Triangle nightclub Kremwerk. Past Routine DJs have included DJ Python, T. Wan, and local banger Succubass. (Explore the archive of Routine mixes on Routine Radio.)
Schacke began making music in bands with friends in his home of Copenhagen before moving into techno in 2017, becoming part of the rich Danish electronic scene. He began to gain recognition as he toured Europe and released the hit “Kisloty People,” a song heavy with samples from Russian pop songs. He builds his music from a vast library of samples built over his musical career. He also runs an industrial, noise, and power electronic label, Moral Defeat.
Local support for the party comes from Seattle staple DJ Sharlese. In her work as a KEXP DJ, you can listen to Sharlese Metcalf mixing on KEXP’s Mechanical Breakdown and Expansions shows. Her work also includes being a member of the international group Black Techno Matters. In addition to a banner year playing nationally and in Berlin, Sharlese continues to build bridges in the Seattle techno scene.
