Once again, it is I, your semi-friendly neighborhood dog reporter here at The Ticket, here to regale you with Seattle’s latest canine celebrations! And much like doggos, these events come in all shapes and sizes, from barking at T-Mobile Park to charity galas to adoption events. This month, it’s canines plus comedy, because dogs are nature’s greatest clowns. Yes, even the regal Afghan Hound who just moved into my neighborhood is a goofball at heart; she knows it, I know it, her mom knows it.
ComedySportz Seattle (CSz Seattle) is taking over Fremont’s Atlas Theatre on the first Saturday of each month with the delightfully titled Puppy Prov. Even if this ended up being nothing more than somebody in the audience bellowing, “Put my beautiful dog child in your improv show!” I’d be there immediately. But there’s more to it than that. The show’s three sections:
- CSz’s troupe gets a suggestion from the audience and builds a family-friendly group story around them and their beloved animal. Just think, you can be witness to the secret life of your pet and what they do when you’re at work being boring
- Actual puppies come out to play with the troupe. Were I an improv artist (and believe me, I am not), it would take everything in my power to not stop a game and just cuddle a little puppy ad infinitum, audience be damned
- Come out to the lobby and play with the pups! And if you build an undeniable connection to one of them, they’re all adoptable! (please be a responsible pet owner)
One-third of all ticket sales go to Resilient Hearts, an organization that saves PNW from high-kill shelters and sets them up with loving families. Comedy, charity, doggos; a perfect Saturday afternoon in Fremont.
