Every fall since “Practical Magic” first hit theaters back in 1998, Coupeville has celebrated its starring role as the nameless New England town where Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman worked their magic in the original cult classic film. From a spellbinding beer garden to nostalgic activities for the whole family, Practically Magic Halloweekend has something for everyone in the lead-up to Halloween.

Get your bearings with a guided walking tour of “Practical Magic” filming locations in the historic downtown, like Toby’s Tavern (The Catch and Fry) and Molka Xete Mexican Kitchen (Verbena Botanicals).

While away Saturday afternoon at the pop-up Ales and Apothecary Brew Garden next to Haller House in the Historic Waterfront District before joining the family-friendly Torchlight Parade along Front Street leading to a community street dance at Coupeville Wharf.

On Sunday, things take a decidedly wholesome turn with the the Great Coupeville Pumpkin Race, an event that’s more kooky than spooky.

Of course, you’ll want to catch a screening of the movie itself at Coupeville Rec Hall — choose the all-ages matinee or a 21+ evening screening featuring midnight margaritas and costumed witchy fun.
