What’s old is new. Vintage doesn’t just apply to clothes or furniture—pop culture has had its own retro renaissance. The love for old-school gaming franchises like the Super Mario Brothers and Sonic the Hedgehog has stayed popular decades later. So popular that a few years ago, an unopened copy of the Super Mario game sold for around two million dollars.

Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) has launched a new gaming series called Pixel Power Day devoted to the hold that OG games have on us. On Saturday, July 13th, stop by the Seattle Center museum to appreciate 8-bit aesthetic through multiple activations.

👾 Check out a chiptune & video game-inspired playlist with nostalgic tracks from video games. 10 am – 5 pm.

👾 Stop by the museum’s South Lobby to get your hands dirty with the hands-on pixel art creation station. 11 am – 4 pm.

👾 Try to level up with drop-in classic video gaming on the massive Sky Church LED screen. 11 am – 4 pm.

👾 Head to the Sound and Vision Theater for a special screening of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, complete with a film intro, trivia, and prizes.  2 pm.
