“Boats, Bites, Brews, & Bands” is the tagline for the 6th annual Party on the Cut, a kickoff event for the Windermere Cup, an annual rowing competition that started in 1987 when UW’s Rowing program faced off against a team from the Soviet Union. But that’s not where the history of this event stops. (In 2001, half the Romanian women’s team left crew and country to defect in Seattle!) Think of this event as the beginning of boating season in Seattle.

The 38th Windermere Cup will occur on Saturday, but the festivities begin the night before. Held at the NE Corner of Montlake Cut, near the UW Waterfront Activity Center, the party includes: 

Boats 🚣‍♀️🛶 
Enjoy a race preview as the University of WashingtonItalian National, and University of Wisconsin crews run through a shortened course. 

Bites 🍕🍦
Five local food trucks will be onsite serving snacks: Anthony’s Finn the Food TruckBella M’BrianaBig Dog’sDick’s, and Sugar + Spoon

Brews 🍻🍷
210 Brewing—the state’s first tribal-owned brewery—will have a tent serving a selection of their beers. It also includes San Juan Seltzers, NW wines from Browne Family Vineyards, and cocktails with Tito’s Handmade Vodka

Bands 🎸🎤
No party is complete with jams. Bands Algorhythm and Nite Wave will provide tunes from multiple genres and decades. Hello, ’80s!! 

Note: This event is 21+. Tickets are required (advance purchase recommended). For those who want to watch the entire race the next day, it’s free for all ages and includes fun activities like a bouncy house for kids, a build-a-boat station, and a photo booth.
