Opens January 4th @ 1913 N 45th St, Seattle

A warning: There’s a chance you’ll leave this place smelling like yakitori. Which, honestly, yummy.

Wallingford has a new smoky Japanese restaurant. Literally smoky. Secret Fort is a fresh yakitori spot from the team behind Yoroshiku and Indigo Cow. It’s got an authentic charcoal grill—you’ll taste the flavors of grilled wagyu meat right on a stick. (We suggest trying their beef tongue for something new.) And the spot serves more than just bomb food. It serves nostalgia, acting as a mini pop culture museum for Japanophiles. You’ll spot Doraemon and Ultraman while enjoying tornado-pickled cucumber. The Super Mario coin block lamps by the bar area will be tempting to punch for coins, but please don’t.

If you want to satisfy your sweet tooth, sister spot Indigo Cow offers Hokkaido-style soft-serve ice cream next door.

Hours: Wednesdays to Sundays from 4 to 9 pm
