What happens when an art opening pairs with a social and cultural gathering? Nepantla Cultural Arts’ Lowrider Block Party in White Center has been doing that for three years, with a big local fest where the community meets the street. Cars, artists, musicians, and makers come together in the neighborhood for this annual event on 17th Ave SW near Nepantla.

This year’s party provides the opening for the Chicana/o/x Style Art Exhibit, which will show at the gallery from August 5th to 27th. The free, family-friendly day starts with the local cultural group Tlalokan blessing the space. And then, the day proceeds with hydraulics, a paint party, old-school jams, and tamales. It’s a chance to support local artists, vendors, and businesses in the area and to experience Mexican American culture on full display.
