Diving the Great Barrier Reef is definitely a bucket list experience. While booking a pricey trip to Australia or New Zealand might not be an option right now, the next best thing can be found right at home in Seattleā€”or wherever you call home, of course. (Minus the 20-hour flights and ensuing jetlag!)

Dr. Erika Woolsey, a marine biologist and an expert on the Great Barrier Reef, will introduce local attendees to the diverse and colorful species who inhabit and make up the reef in this edition of National Geographic Live. Using 360-degree photography, Dr. Woolsey has created an immersive virtual experience that helps people gain a greater understanding of the ocean and reefs both locally and all over the world. Hear behind-the-scenes stories about her experiences researching the reef, and just how this area can be saved.

Diving the Great Barrier Reef is just one of National Geographicā€™s Live series at Benaroya Hallā€”be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming events in the series like Life on the Move, and many more.

With its pristine acoustics and luxurious design, Benaroya Hall is home to the Seattle Symphony, located in downtown Seattle.
