With 8 pm sunsets now officially behind us and a recent slew of cool, rainy days, we’ve had cozy activities on the brain. At the top of the list? Taking some time to meander around a museum. Better yet if that museum helps you avoid the disorientation of spending a prolonged amount of time indoors.

Seattle Asian Art Museum—one of the Seattle Art Museum’s (SAM) three locations and the original home of SAM—is one of these places. Massive windows in many rooms, letting in Volunteer Park’s trees and grounds, allow appreciation of the natural world alongside human artistic expression. Traversing the museum is a tranquil experience. With the museum now open an extra day a week and a new exhibition filling its halls, now’s the perfect time to visit.

Now on view at the Seattle Asian Art Museum is Meot: Korean Art from the Frank Bayley Collection. According to SAM, the Korean term meot covers everything from “charm, style, elegance, beauty, and creativity, along with highly refined aesthetic sensibilities.” And this exhibition displays over 60 artworks, including ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, and wooden works. A mix of traditional and contemporary Korean art from art patron Bayley’s close artist friends and his historical collection highlights this concept.
