The 26th annual Local Sightings Film Festival (LSFF) at Northwest Film Forum continues its mission to highlight the regional film industry. Encouraging both emerging and established filmmakers to push boundaries, you’re likely to find your new favorite filmmaker at one of the fest’s short film and feature film programs, workshops, and panels.

One workshop that jumps out to me this year: Make your own movie during the fest’s 16mm Found Footage Fiesta. A two-day, hands-on event for aspiring filmmakers of all ages and experience levels, participants will get their hands on vintage 16mm film and create movie mashups.

Passes and tickets to LSFF are available on a sliding scale. A complete festival guide can be found online, but below are three films not to forget:

🍿 FANTASY A GETS A MATTRESS, the opening night feature, is an ensemble comedy starring local rap legend Fantasy A.

🍿 A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM IN PRISON, which documents inmate actors in a rural Oregon prison as they put on a production of Shakespeare’s classic.

🍿 WHEN THE MAN COMES AROUND is a short film that’s a take on a modern-day Western. In it, Polly, a trans camgirl, meets a cowboy and must navigate love and agency during their quick courtship.
