📍 Downtown Centralia

It’ll soon be the most wonderful time of the year, and in downtown Centralia, residents are decking more than just their halls—why stop there, after all? Over 90 lighted tractors and other floats will parade through the historic downtown area on December 14th.
The parade has humble beginnings, debuting in 2009 with less than 10 floats — half of which were decorated by the event organizer. In the years since, it’s grown into a city-wide tradition and “become a cornerstone of the holiday season in Centralia,” says Hallie Ralls, president of the Centralia Downtown Association. In honor of the parade’s 15th anniversary, a special grand marshal will be named shortly and a “lawnmower brigade” of bedazzled lawnmowers will be part of the parade for the first time ever.
“Since Centralia is a rural community, having something like a tractor parade that really highlights our origins as we continue to grow is such a special thing,” explains Ralls. “A lot of places lose some of that character as they grow, and that’s one of the things Centralia does so well… to grow and change but also remember where we came from and what brings us together as a community, especially during the holidays.”
And the festivities continue well after the parade with Midnight Madness—first introduced last year. Local shops, restaurants, bars, and more stay open until midnight with their own special deals, for those interested in late-night bites and holiday shopping. More of an early bird? Head down before the parade to shop, dine and explore all downtown Centralia has to offer.
