Hate Valentine’s Day? The Atomic Bombshell’s 17th annual “J’ADORE: A Burlesque Valentine” show may just turn that cynical frown upside down.
The Seattle-based burlesque troupe, originally founded by Kitten LaRue and Fanny N. Flames, has been going strong since their launch in 2003. Scoring an opening act slot for Dita Von Teese at the Showbox during their first year, the troupe has also built a loyal audience at The Triple Door since 2004.
This year’s “J’ADORE” offers up a fresh collection of acts with a joyful combination of burlesque, dance and drag. Starring cast favorites Kitten N’ Lou, Cherdonna, Keyes and Moscato Sky, this year’s special guests also include Queen of Burlesque Jessabelle Thunder — current reigning Miss Exotic World, dance collective The Purple Lemonade, comic stripper Woody Shticks and more.
When purchasing your ticket, treat yourself to a premium seat close to the action. Once seated, select a fun cocktail or glass of champagne to celebrate the occasion. The dinner menu includes dishes such as Indonesian beef in a soy and ginger sauce, pan-fried sea bass and chickpea and cauliflower curry. Be sure to arrive an hour before the 5-7 p.m. shows to put in your dinner order, allowing for a half hour before the 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. shows. Note that the 9 p.m. show is 21+, all other shows are 17+ for entry.
While bringing friends is always a good idea, the show can also be enjoyed solo, as the experience of relishing laughs and jaw-dropping choreography in a roomful of company can’t help but make you feel connected to those who appreciate humor and a little razzle dazzle.
