Year five, let’s friggin’ goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

After a pretty standard first year for an expansion team, the Seattle Kraken stunned the National Hockey League by reaching the playoffs in their sophomore season and humiliating the defending Stanley Cup champions Colorado Avalanche in the first round. But a second coming of, say, the Las Vegas Golden Knights (the best new-ish team in a generation) wasn’t in the cards. Since then, the team that built Climate Pledge Arena has been shuffled more times than a deck of cards, including the dismissal of two head coaches in a row.

But now, under the tutelage of Lane Lambert and Jessica Campbell (the NHL’s first female assistant coach), the Kraken are primed to slay the day for their fifth full season. With OG fan favorites Jordan Eberle, Jared McCann, Matty Beniers, Vince Dunn and goalie power duo Joey Daccord and Philipp Grubauer now being joined by incoming forward Mason Marchment, center Frederik Gaudreau and defenseman Ryan Lindgren, it’s a whole new ballgame (…ice game? You know what I mean). Which means that whatever you think of their previous record, all bets are off as they look toward a bright future slapping pucks and taking names.

Join them on October 9 for their home opener against the Anaheim Ducks at the best arena in the league, make sure to give Buoy a fist bump and prepare to defend the deep.
