Indigenous Peoples Night @ Climate Pledge Arena

Culture meets ice 🏒

📍 Climate Pledge Arena: 334 1st Ave N, Seattle

When they’re not busy slapping pucks or each other’s faces—or at least that’s what I come to hockey games to see—the Seattle Kraken continues to excel at community-building, especially during their matchup against the Florida Panthers. Witness their Kraken Common Thread initiative, which engages with local organizations to show that “we are all woven together by the same passion and devotion for our team” and that, despite whatever the incoming national government may think, diversity isn’t a dirty word.

Local artists design special Kraken logos reflecting their cultures, with proceeds supporting theme-matched organizations. For Indigenous Peoples Night, presented by the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, artist Keith Stevenson (a Muckleshoot tribal member) has created a stunning emblem combining the tribe’s Great Seal and Coast Salish textile design with the team’s logo.

Take home a piece of the celebration with a themed tote bag giveaway. Watch for special jerseys worn during pregame warmups (typically auctioned for charity), and discover Indigenous businesses from across the Pacific Northwest throughout the evening.

Coming up in the Common Thread series: Kelly Bjork for Pride Night (January 6th), Shayla Hufana for Lunar New Year Night (January 28th), and Rae Akino for Black History Hockey Night (February 4th).
