Too Late — You Missed It!

Sunday, March 26th • 8 pm

There are dozens upon dozens of weed stores in Tacoma, and on Sunday, March 26th they might just experience a serious uptick in sales as the bong-crushing riff masters from High on Fire come to town for an intimate show at Jazzbones. Whether it’s wrapped up, loaded in a pipe, vaporized or eaten in a cookie, a whole lot of marijuana will be consumed in anticipation for “Snakes for the Divine” and the dozen or so other tracks they decide to dose us with.

I’ll absolutely be making the drive down I-5 for this, as some might call me a bit of a fanboy. I have a bumper sticker on my Hyundai that reads “Matt Pike For President.” Pike is the often-shirtless frontman/guitarist for High on Fire. This dude is a living legend in the world of stoner metal. His previous band Sleep wrote a 60+ minute one-song album called Dopesmoker, and with High on Fire, he has served up eight albums worth of in-your-face, driving Black Sabbath worship. Portland newcomers Hoaxed bring an upbeat yet dark and melodic brand of heavy rock to the lineup alongside the nasty, sludgy doom of Tacoma locals Greenwater.
