Down the Rabbit Hole @ Cafe Nordo’s Knife Room

ā€œWe’re all mad here. You must be, or you wouldn’t have come here” 🐰

šŸ“ø: Cafe Nordo

Show resumes Sept 16 ā€¢ 7:30 pm

This Pioneer Square dinner theater, created by co-executive artistic directors Erin Brindley and Terry Podgorski in 2009, continues its experiment integrating food and storytelling both upstairs in its Culinarium and downstairs in its Knife Room cabaret space. Currently running down there in an open-ended run, in addition to recurring jazz nights and ā€œSip & Savorā€ events, is the richly designed ā€œWonderland Cabaretā€ of Down the Rabbit Hole.

Multiple partsĀ make up this colorful cabaret, adapted by Podgorski and playwright Stephen Robinson from the Lewis Carroll stories and directed by Jasmine Joshua. One part isĀ a musical retelling of the mad tea party, as emceed by the White Rabbit. Another part isĀ an interactive pop-up art experience — the room housing visual artist Kate Jessup’s ā€œInfinity Garden of Living Flowersā€ installation makes for a kaleidoscopic marvel. One more part isĀ a locally sourced fine-dining experienceĀ designed by award-winning executive chef Brindley herself. And then there’s the after-hours, no-cover, anybody-can-get-on-the-micĀ karaoke party. They’ve even added Sunday brunch dates for people like me who would rather be cozy at home in the evenings while watchingĀ Big BrotherĀ and old episodes ofĀ The Kids in the Hall.
