Show resumes Sept 16 âą 7:30 pm
This Pioneer Square dinner theater, created by co-executive artistic directors Erin Brindley and Terry Podgorski in 2009, continues its experiment integrating food and storytelling both upstairs in its Culinarium and downstairs in its Knife Room cabaret space. Currently running down there in an open-ended run, in addition to recurring jazz nights and âSip & Savorâ events, is the richly designed âWonderland Cabaretâ of Down the Rabbit Hole.
Multiple parts make up this colorful cabaret, adapted by Podgorski and playwright Stephen Robinson from the Lewis Carroll stories and directed by Jasmine Joshua. One part is a musical retelling of the mad tea party, as emceed by the White Rabbit. Another part is an interactive pop-up art experience â the room housing visual artist Kate Jessupâs âInfinity Garden of Living Flowersâ installation makes for a kaleidoscopic marvel. One more part is a locally sourced fine-dining experience designed by award-winning executive chef Brindley herself. And then thereâs the after-hours, no-cover, anybody-can-get-on-the-mic karaoke party. Theyâve even added Sunday brunch dates for people like me who would rather be cozy at home in the evenings while watching Big Brother and old episodes of The Kids in the Hall.
