If Capitol Hill Block Party has a Gen Z tilt, then Day In Day Out (DIDO) is its decidedly millennial older cousin. This year, the festival takes place about a month earlier than usual, but it once again sets up camp at Seattle Center’s Fisher Pavilion for three days. 2024’s edition features headliners like theeee Carly Rae Jepsen, Jack Antonoff’s project Bleachers, and Seattle indie rockers The Head and the Heart.
While all those headliners are great, I love some lower-billed acts. Philadelphia’s Mannequin Pussy put out a killer album earlier this year, I Got Heaven, that I’m excited to hear live. Washed Out is chillwave royalty, Men I Trust‘s brand of chill indie-pop is seemingly everywhere these days, and it’s hard to pass up the opportunity to watch experimental R&B musician Brittney Denise Parks, AKA Sudan Archives, break it down on the violin on the big stage.
In addition to national and international acts, DIDO has curated a lineup of local musicians and bands to DJ throughout the fest. Darkwave outfit Dark Chisme, punky Lemon Boy, girl poppers THEM, psychedelic rockers Biblioteka, DJ Wax Witch, and more will be behind the decks to ensure you don’t lose your groove between sets.
