More than 60% of the apples eaten in the United States come from Washington State, and I’d say that’s reason to believe that Cider Summit Seattle is an ideal place to partake in an autumnal tasting. The 11th annual festival is the region’s largest hard cider tasting event, with more than 150 distinctive libations from over 50 producers.
A mostly PNW roster of cideries will pour at Lake Union Park’s scenic MOHAI lawn. Dragon’s Head Cider from Vashon Island, Yonder Cider from Wenatchee, and Finnriver Farm & Cidery from Port Townsend join from around the state. Try traditionally made, naturally fermented Welsh cider from Oregon-based Seven Seeds Seidr. Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse makes the trip down with an award-winning selection from Vancouver Island, BC.
Re-entry is allowed—just make sure you keep your wristband and tasting glass to attend both days. Pro tip: Most cideries will pour 2oz tastes, but some will offer tasting “flights” of three to four mini tastes for one ticket, so bring a friend to divide and maximize.
General admission tickets are upwards of $40 and include 14 tasting tickets. Opt for the VIP experience for four more tickets and early access at 2 pm Friday. For non-drinking DDs, festival-only admission is $6. Leashed dogs are welcome (check out the Dog Lounge), but leave the kiddos with a babysitter; this event is strictly 21+.
