Washington’s own Cheyenne Jackson has followed the yellow brick road back to the Emerald City. As the latest stop on his Signs of Life tour, Jackson will take to the Benaroya Hall stage, the usual home of the Seattle Symphony, on June 20 to meditate musically on art, love, fatherhood and the cosmic twists that have shaped his remarkable path.
While Jackson’s infectious charm and powerhouse vocals certainly represent healthy vital signs, Signs of Life has more to do with the cues we look for from the universe before any big decision (is it time to move on from my relationship? Will I regret cutting bangs?). Blending his own music, like the gripping “Ok” about his father’s unconditional love for his gay son, with other iconic, toe-tapping melodies from the likes of Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley, Lady Gaga and Chappell Roan, Jackson paints a compelling picture of the signs big and small that guide us in life.
Now an Emmy- and Grammy-nominated notable, Jackson cut his teeth as a young actor in Seattle before moving to New York City. He’s put in the sweat equity on Broadway in productions like “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “Altar Boyz,” “Into the Woods” and “Once Upon a Mattress,” while also featuring in numerous television shows and movies from “Glee” and “30 Rock” to “American Horror Story” and “Descendants 3.” So, it’s no surprise that Jackson has plenty of saucy showbiz anecdotes to share as part of his deeply personal and uproariously funny Signs of Life exploration.
Get ready for an unforgettable night filled with whimsy, laughter and the sheer joy of a perfectly imperfect night of shared experience.
The Seattle Symphony unleashes the power of music, brings people together and lifts the human spirit.
